Pavlov’s Dogs

Players are dogs working together during a series of tests (rounds) given to them by famous Dogtors such as Sigmund Fetch, Collie Jung, and Bark F. Skinner! Each round one player is the Dogtor and ensures that the dogs are following the rules. All players start with 3 bones. If they ever make a mistake they lose a bone and if one player is out of bones the game ends immediately. Whenever you are a bad dog, you lose one bone. The Dogtor then resets the total test value to zero and play continues until all dogs are out of test cards. The game end immediately once one dog is out of bones and all players fail. However, players may share bones in between rounds as long as each player has at least one bone but no more than 3 bones. If all players still have bones at the end of your final round, you pass!

Players choose between building up their bouquet to try to score major points in the end game Tulip Festival, giving tulips to other players’ bouquets for immediate points, and placing tulips in the Tulip Festival to adjust each type’s ranking. Each turn, players draw one Tulip card, take an action, then draw another Tulip card and take a different action. Players can change the value of different tulips by playing into the Tulip Market, gain points by giving Tulips to other players, or build up their own Bouquet, which is scored at the end of the game.

On a turn, you draw a playing piece from the bag – feeling for a desired shape, if you wish, but not knowing the color of the piece – then place that piece in any legal location on the board. Pieces come in yellow, cyan, and magenta, and initially you must play these pieces on the lowest level of the game board. If you can play a piece so that it’s entirely supported by other pieces, then you can play on the second level of the board; by doing this, you can create the secondary colors green, orange, and purple – and this is what you’ll need to do to win.

Search the high-seas for treasures left behind by the unfortunate souls that preceded you. Salvage old ship parts for temporary aid or get lucky and find something worth selling. The end of the game is triggered once a player has buried three treasures. To do this, a player must first acquire the amount of gold required to bury at the various bury spots on the map. After all players have had an equal number of turns. The player who has buried three treasures wins the game. Ties are decided by the player who has the highest legendary status, followed by which player has the most gold.
