Battletech Bootcamp

This is an hour-long event that will teach you to play the game using the standard rules that we use in all our other games (not intro, quick-start, or shortened rules) and will give you an overview of the greater Battletech universe and miniatures gaming hobby. Each player will use only one mech on a one vs. one battle against the person sitting opposite them on a basic map sheet. As a group, the GM will walk the players through each step of the turn process and introduce the universe/gaming hobby. After a couple turns done step by step with the GM, players will try to complete more turns against each other with the GM there to provide help and clarity as needed. Once you have completed this event players are encouraged to keep learning by playing in the Battletech Grinder.

Alpha Strike Academy

This game is a miniatures-based combined-arms mass-combat game that uses all the units you know from Battletech. It is designed to let you play larger scale battles (many, many units) in a few hours or a smaller game much quicker. It is also miniatures-based, which means the board is not hexed like in classic Battletech and instead miniatures rules are used. Likewise, instead of using the 8.5″ by 11″ record sheet per mech that classic Battletech uses, the game uses a playing card size record sheet per unit (though these are often printed on one sheet of paper to save space and be better organized). This event will teach all of the basics of the game system so you can then feel confident to play on your own or in our other Alpha Strike events.

Star Wars X-Wing Last Man Standing

True X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter dog fighting. Using modified 2nd Edition X-Wing rules, you will attempt to rack up as many kills as you can in a total of three 30-minute engagements. Earn points for kills and kill streaks and lose points for deaths. Respawn back into action. Kills will also net you a special upgrade from a deck of custom upgrades designed for the game.
